Why SmartLedger requests your data
Mailbox access is optional and only starts when you click Connect in Settings. We explain what we collect, why we need it, and how to disconnect or delete your data.
Account & sign-in
Email address and authentication identifiers
To create your account, keep you signed in, and associate receipts and transactions with you.
Receipts you upload
Images, PDFs, and extracted fields (vendor, amount, date, category)
To parse receipts with AI and build your ledger. Files are stored in private storage linked to your account.
Gmail (optional — only if you connect)
OAuth tokens; forwarding settings; recent message metadata (subject, date, short preview)
To add a receipt forwarding filter in Gmail, forward finance-related emails to your private SmartLedger address, and scan recent messages when you click Fetch receipts. We do not read your entire inbox, send email on your behalf, or use Gmail data for advertising.
Outlook / Microsoft mailbox (optional)
OAuth tokens; inbox rules; recent message metadata (subject, date, body preview)
To create a receipt forwarding rule in Outlook and scan recent messages when you request it. Same limits as Gmail — no ads, no resale of mailbox content.
